Installation Procedure
Note: This installation procedure is for engines that are equipped with triple oil coolers.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

This is an Illustration of a typical installation.
Attach a strap and a hoist to the oil coolers (4). Replace the coolers and the oil temperature regulator housing (10). Replace the bolts (7). The weight of the oil cooler assembly is 262 kg (582 lb). Note: Use new O-rings and gaskets in the installation of the coolers.
Replace the tube (8) and the tube assembly (9) (not shown).
Replace the tube (6).
Replace the tube (3) and the tube (5). Note: The electrical connections and the other variations in the models could require additional removals or disconnections before you remove the component.
Attach a strap and a hoist to the oil cooler (2). Replace the oil cooler (2). Replace the sixteen bolts and a P-clamp. The weight of the oil cooler assembly is 136 kg (302 lb).
Replace two tubes (1).
Connect the water temperature contactor assembly (if equipped ) to the oil outlet cover.
Replace the plug in the oil cooler bonnet. Note: Use new O-rings and gaskets when you install the new oil coolers.
Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. Refer to the Operation And Maintenance Manual.
