December 2000 PRODUCT LINE ADDITION: REMANUFACTURED 3406B ENGINES ProductCaterpillar announces reinstatement of a Remanufactured 3406B ATAAC engine for heavy-duty trucks. For customers currently running the 3406B engine, this option eliminates any upgrade charge, resulting in a less expensive repower alternative.

Caterpillar's cleaning, inspection and remanufacturing specifications provide the best possible value for our customers.
Rear engine-mounting hardware, sound suppression covers/panels, flywheel, alternator, fan drive, air compressor, and associated wiring must be reused from the core engine or purchased separately.
Core Acceptance
All engines returned as cores must meet the core acceptance guidelines as identified in SELD0019 "Core Acceptance Criteria." Also see SELD0020 "Engine Check List."
All 3406 engines are acceptable cores for this offering. An upgrade charge will be applied if a 3406 A core is returned (refer to IRM REM00-28B).
