A helper spring can be installed to provide additional force for improved response. The spring is available from Pacbrake®, a division of Pacific Diesel Brake Company. The Pacbrake part number is C10581.
Maintenance Tips For 6I0799 Exhaust Restrictor
1. Activate the system monthly during the off season to exercise the restrictor. This will help minimize "hang up".2. Before cold season usage, apply a light coat of oil to the air cylinder rod and activate the cylinder several times. Then, wipe excess oil off the cylinder rod.3. At the same time as Step 2, spray a small amount of light oil onto the vertical "flapper valve" shaft. Activate the cylinder several times.These maintenance tips will help minimize operational complaints when winter arrives. If slow response persists, a C10581 Spring can be installed.
Installation Of C10581 Spring
Location of exhaust restrictor components. (1) Cylinder. (2) Cylinder Arm. (3) C10581 Spring. (4) Flapper Lever. (5 and 6) Keeper and Pin.1. Remove the air cylinder assembly.2. With the air cylinder rod extended, measure the distance from the cylinder mounting pin hole to the clevis pin hole.3. Remove the clevis and locknut from the cylinder rod.4. Install the C10581 Spring on the cylinder rod.5. Install the locknut and clevis removed in Step 3. Adjust the distance from the cylinder mounting pin hole to the clevis pin hole until dimension is the same as that measured in Step 2. Tighten the locknut.6.
