When performing lubrication or maintenance unless otherwise specified:1. Park the machine on level ground.2. Neutralize the transmission and engage neutral lock.3. Lower the bowl and apron.4. Apply the parking brake.5. Stop the engine.
Read and understand all warning and caution information provided on the machine. Movement of the steering or hitch control can cause movement in the hitch area, reducing hitch clearances suddenly.To avoid possible weakening of the ROPS (Roll-over Protective Structure), consult a Caterpillar dealer before altering the ROPS in any way.The protection offered by the ROPS will be impaired if it has been subjected to structural damage or involved in an overturn accident.Wear protective glasses or shoes as the job requires.Do not attempt repairs you do not understand.Operate the engine only in a well ventilated area.Do not allow unauthorized personnel on the machine when it is being serviced.Promote good housekeeping. Keep tools and work area clean.Store oily rags and other combustible material in a safe place. Use steps, grab irons and walkways provided when mounting, dismounting or moving around on the machine. Face the machine when mounting or dismounting. Use a self-attaching air chuck, and stand behind the tread when inflating tires. Turn the disconnect switch OFF and remove the key when servicing the electrical system. Attach a DO NOT OPERATE tag to the controls while the machine is being serviced.Repair or replace broken or damaged equipment. Use the proper tools.Do not smoke while refueling.Remove drain plugs, filler caps and pressure taps slowly to relieve pressure.Do not weld on lines filled with oil. Oil is flammable.Do not smoke when checking electrolyte level. Batteries give off flammable fumes.When installing or removing batteries, attach the battery ground cable last and remove it first.When using booster battery, attach the ground cable last, and to the starter ground terminal, to prevent sparks near the batteries. Lower the bowl onto blocks, and use the blocking pin to block the apron in the raised position, when performing maintenance on cutting edges or router bits.
