Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use Tooling (A) to remove fuel filters (1). Disconnect oil level gage (2) and position out of the way.

Disconnect harness assembly (3) and harness assembly (4). Remove the connecting hardware.
Remove clamps (5) and clips (6). Disconnect elbow (7) .

Use Tooling (A) to remove oil filters (8) .

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to oil filter base (9). Use a pry bar for balance as oil filter base (9) is removed. Remove bolts (10). The weight of oil filter base (9) is approximately 55 kg (120 lb).
