Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Position the stick on the ground. Extend the bucket cylinder so the bucket rests on the ground, as shown.
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) from bucket cylinder (2).

Attach a suitable lifting device to the rod end of bucket cylinder (2). The weight of bucket cylinder (2) is approximately 163 kg (359 lb). Position suitable blocking under the bucket linkage.
Remove bolt (3), outside nut (5B), inside nut (5A), and pin (4). Remove any shims that are present.

Raise the rod end of bucket cylinder (2) until bucket cylinder (2) is horizontal. Attach a suitable lifting device to the head end of bucket cylinder (2). Remove bolt (6), the spacer, and pin assembly (7). Remove bucket cylinder (2).Installation Procedure
Install bucket cylinder (2) in the reverse order of removal.
Coat all bores for the pins with Tooling (A).
When installing the bucket linkage assembly, rotate the rod end of the bucket cylinder to position grease fitting away from the stick.

Install bolt (3), inside nut (5A), and outside nut (5B) that secure pin (4). Position outside nut (5B) until outside nut (5B) is 0.50 mm (0.019 inch) past end of bolt (3). Tighten inside nut (5A) against outside nut (5B) to a torque of 175 30 N.m (129 22 lb ft).
