Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you read this information and you understand this information.The front of the engine blocks have been modified. This modification requires the use of different bolts that attach the front housing to the engine block. Use Table 1 to determine the Type of bolt that will be used. The ""Type 1"" bolt is 30 mm (1.18 inch) in length. The ""Type 2"" bolt is 40 mm (1.57 inch) in length. The ""Type 2"" bolt is used due to a deeper counterbore in the engine block. The use of the incorrect bolt may cause damage to the threads. The use of the incorrect bolt will not properly tighten the front housing to the engine block.Determining Your Type of Engine

The gasket kit will include the following components: 211-2822 Gasket , 204-0712 Bolt and 204-0714 Bolt .Type 1

204-0712 Bolt The two bolts (Type 1) are 30 mm (1.18 inch) long. Marks on the head of the bolt represent the grade of the bolt. These markings can be seen in Illustration 1 and 2. The 6V-2317 Bolt is replaced by 204-0712 Bolt . The 204-0712 Bolt has a torque value of 40 8 N m (30 6 lb ft). 13 bolts are required for the installation of the front housing.Type 2
