Tractors and 583K PipelayersDescription of Change: A new top piston ring is used in the engines for D8K Tractors and 583K Pipelayers. The new piston ring has a plasma-coated face for better resistance to wear and corrosion than the former chromeplated piston ring. The gap of the new ring is 0.0355" (0.902 mm), in comparison to the 0.0310" (0.775 mm) gap for the former ring to prevent contact of the ring ends. Also, the new ring is made of a harder material to decrease wear and possible failures from breaks.Adaptable As: The new 8N5654 Piston Ring is a direct replacement for the former 6N5025 Piston Ring which is canceled.
