Rear of Machine (1) Pressure gauge (2) Pressure regulating valveThe counterbalance valve for the screed assist system is located at the rear of the machine, on the left side.When the screed assist system is operating, pressure regulating valve (2) can be used to change the pressure in the rod ends of the screed lift cylinders. When the adjustment spool is rotated clockwise, the pressure in the rod ends of the screed lift cylinders increases. This increased pressure decreases the downward force of the screed. Counterclockwise rotation of the adjustment spool decreases the pressure in the screed lift cylinders. Pressure gauge (1) measures the screed counterbalance pressure. When the adjustment spool is turned fully counterclockwise, screed counterbalance pressure should be 0 kPa (0 psi). In order to determine the optimum setting, the pressure should be adjusted in 69 kPa (10 psi) increments. The recommended maximum screed counterbalance pressure is 1500 kPa (653 psi). The adjustment spool can increase the pressure above the recommended maximum setting. However, if the pressure is adjusted above the recommended maximum setting, the screed will not float.
