Preparation of the Undercarriage
Note: While the track is off the machine, it is a good time to check for wear on the track roller frame. Repair any worn parts or replace any worn parts.
Separate the track on both sides of the machine. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the Sprocket Guide Guard Group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive and Sprocket" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the sprocket segments from both sides of the machine if worn more than 40%. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Sprocket Segment - Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Use a wire brush or a wire wheel in order to clean the carrier assembly of the final drive sprocket mounting areas on the machine.
Remove the carrier rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Carrier Roller - Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the idlers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Idler and Yoke - Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller - Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.Preparation of Service
Note: A stronger recoil spring is available for the D5G Track Type Tractors. The procedure to replace the recoil spring is in Special Instruction REHS3014. Machines that use SystemOne track should also use a stronger recoil spring.
Before any SystemOne guiding arrangement can be retrofitted onto a field machine that is going to use a conventional idler, an inspection of the track frame guiding guards must be completed to determine if the distance between the structural plates of the end guiding guards are correct.
This step ensures that existing end guiding guards are straight and properly aligned before
