There have been reports that the 151-6856 Hydraulic Caliper Brake Gp, which is part of the 445-4599 Front Axle Gp, can seize up. When the brake group seizes, damage and smoke generation underneath the machine can occur to the front axle caliper.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this issue. If failure occurs, replace the entire brake caliper unit and do not disassemble the removed unit.Create a GDSN Product Health Service Request (SR) with priority of "Product Inquiry / Informational". Add any pertinent photos and detailed failure information for the product group. Mention the CPI number #372948 in the CPI field and/or mention the TIB media number in the description or title. Then close the service request at the dealership without submitting to Caterpillar. Doing so will alert the CPI Team that you have documented this failure in PSCRM.Report through the CPI feedback tool in Service Information Management System (SIMSi) referencing CPI number 372948 to have a Send It Back (SIB) request generated. A SIB request will be issued to your dealer code in the SIB system after the SIMSi entry is created.Submit the failed component along with any other available information to SIMSi.
