Installation Of Heat Shields
(1) Remove heat shield assembly (1). This is not needed again. (2) Put template (2) in position over existing bolt heads (3) as shown. Make marks at the locations for new holes (4) to be added. Turn the template over for use on the other side. Drill eight holes (4) with a 4Ø (0.156"Ø) drill as shown.
Be careful not to drill through the inner metal lining of the existing turbocharger heat shield.
(3) Install four 1W7330 Brackets (5) with eight 2S3745 Screws (6). Install 8N2714 Shield (7) and 8N2713 Shield (8), screws, bolts, washers and nuts. Make or use the template (guide) shown above to locate the eight holes to be drilled in the turbocharger heat shield. The view shown is for use on the left side; flip (turn) the template over for use on the right side. Put edge (A) toward the front of the engine.
