Remove and Install Fuel Control Linkage
Start By:a. remove rocker arm assembliesb. disconnect governor linkage as indicated in the governor remove and install story
Do not move the fuel control linkage (or injector racks) without the Injector Compressors, tooling (A), installed. Damage to the injectors could occur. After installation of tooling (A), tap on top of each injector lightly with a rubber mallet to prevent any binding or side loading in the injectors.
1. When removing the fuel control linkage with the injectors in place install tooling (A) on the fuel injectors and slightly compress the injector springs. 2. Remove four bolts (1) and fuel control linkage (2). The following steps are for the installation of the fuel control linkage.3. Position fuel control linkage (2), engaging all injector control racks and install four bolts (1). Be sure the small dowel in each mounting bracket is in the proper position before tightening the bolts. With the four bolts finger tight, push the fuel control linkage shaft to the front and rear several times. This should prevent binding in the control linkage bearings.4. Torque bolts (1) and check control linkage movement to be sure there is no binding.5. Perform Injector Synchronization and Fuel Setting.6. Remove tooling A.End By:a. install rocker arm assemblies, then do Fue Timing and Valve Clearance Adjustment.
