Control System Capabilities
The EPIC control system provides the capability and functionality of Standard ISO EGP systems for 2 to 10 Gensets. Modular program and commercial considerations limit EGP functionality.Sequences of Operation
The EPIC control system automatically performs the following describes the sequence of operations.AUTOMATIC / STANDBY (UTILITY) MODE
The automatic transfer switches are in the normal position serving utility power to the loads.
The generator mains are open.
The automation is standing by to act in response to a utility failure.EMERGENCY (GENERATOR) MODE
Utility Failure
Automatic transfer switches sense utility failure.
A run request is sent to the generator plant.
All available generators are started.
The first generator up to voltage and frequency is closed to the emergency bus.
The remaining generators are synchronized and paralleled to the emergency bus as the generators come up to voltage and frequency.
As the generators are paralleled to the emergency bus, load shed levels are added, powering the associated loads.
The system is now in Emergency Mode.Utility Restoration and Exit from Emergency Mode
Automatic transfer switches senses that the utility source is within acceptable operational tolerances.
Automatic transfer switches transfer back to utility power.
When the last automatic transfer switch has transferred to the utility, run requests are removed from the generator plant. All generator main circuit breakers are opened.
The generators are allowed to run for the programmed cooldown period.
The system is now back in Automatic/Standby (Utility) Mode.Note: The No Load Test Switch is a software switch located on the HMI displayNO LOAD TEST MODE
Entrance into No Load Test Mode
The No Load Test Switch is placed in the ON position.
All available generators are started.
The first generator up to voltage and frequency is closed to the bus.
The remaining generators are synchronized and paralleled to the bus as the generators come up to voltage and frequency.
The system is now in No Load Test Mode.Exit from No Load Test Mode
The No Load Test Switch is placed in the OFF position.
All generator breakers are opened.
The generators are allowed to run for the cool down period.
The system is now returned to the Automatic/Standby Mode.LOAD SHED
The EMCP 3.S Remote Mounted Control include a Load Shed Control function to control the loads served by the generator plant. The Load Shed Control shall have a 4PDT relay for each generator present in the system. Each relay shall be assigned a user-settable load shed level in the form of a numeric value from the touchscreen interface.Load Shed Levels
Each level defines the priority of a load in the load shed scheme (higher value levels are shed first). The total amount of load shed levels available is dependant upon the number of generators in the system. Each load shed relay can be set to any level between 1 and 10, with an extra value for essential and non-essential. Therefore the total range of values that a load shed relay can be set to is between 0 and 11. Setting a load shed relay to a value higher than the number of generators in a system effectively makes the loads attached to that relay non-essential. Meaning the loads are
