Caterpillar’s obligations under this Service Letter are subject to, and shall not apply in contravention of, the laws, rules, regulations, directives, ordinances, orders, or statutes of the United States, or of any other applicable jurisdiction, without recourse or liability with respect to Caterpillar.
This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI11125" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty ClaimDescription Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.
Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI11125" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 28Sep2017 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Title, Problem, and Affected Product.
PROBLEM
The engine lifting eyes need to be inspected and possibly replaced on certain 785C, 785D, and 793D Off-Highway Trucks, G3508B, G3516B, G3516J, and G3520B Engines, 3512B, 3512B HD, 3512C, 3512C HD, 3516, 3516B, 3516C, 3516E, G3516H, and G3520H HD Generator Sets, 3512C HD Locomotive Engines, 3512C, 3512C HD, 3512E HD, 3516C HD, and 3516E HD Marine Engines, 3512B, 3512C HD, and 3516C HD Marine Auxiliary Engines, 3512, and 3512C HD Petroleum Engines. The existing lifting eye dowel pin holes could have been manufactured oversized. The oversized holes can allow the press fit pin to slide out of position. Please note that an out of position lifting eye pin may result in a reduced lifting ability and may, in conjunction with other factors or circumstances, result in a risk of personal injury or death.
