Hydraulic Cab Riser Lower Solenoid connectionsThis diagnostic code is associated with the attachment Hydraulic Cab Riser (HCR) Lower Solenoid. The FMI 06 diagnostic code means that the Implement ECM 2 has determined that the circuit current for the solenoid is above normal.Note: The Hydraulic Cab Riser Solenoid is connected to the Implement ECM 2. The condition of the solenoid is monitored by the Machine ECM. The Machine ECM monitors all components attached to the Implement ECM 2 via the CAN B data link.The Hydraulic Cab Riser Lower Solenoid is a proportional solenoid. The solenoid is controlled by the Implement ECM 2 through a PWM driver output. The Implement ECM 2 will energize or de-energize the solenoid depending on the status of the hydraulic modulation enable thumbwheel switch on the right joystick. The current value that is supplied to the solenoid is dependent on the position of the thumbwheel. This solenoid can be overridden in Cat ET.Conditions that can cause this diagnostic code are listed below:
The energize circuit of the solenoid is shorted to a ground source.
The solenoid has failed.
The ECM has failed. This situation is unlikely.Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, secure and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID
Turn the disconnect switch and the key switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code.
Disconnect the solenoid with the active diagnostic code from the machine harness.Expected Result:The FMI 06 diagnostic code changes to an FMI 05 diagnostic code when the solenoid is disconnected.Results:
YES - The FMI 06 diagnostic code changes to an FMI 05 diagnostic code when the solenoid is disconnected. The circuit is correct.Repair: The solenoid has failed. Repeat this test "CHECK THE SOLENOID" to verify the solenoid failure. Replace the solenoid.STOP
NO - The FMI 06 diagnostic code remains active. Disconnecting the solenoid did not affect the status of the diagnostic code. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE ENERGIZE CIRCUIT OF THE SOLENOID FOR A SHORT TO GROUNDThe solenoid remains disconnected from the machine harness.
Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the Implement ECM 2.
At the Implement ECM 2 machine harness connector, measure the resistance from the supply contact Pin 32 (wire K762-BU) to frame ground. Measure the resistance from the supply contact Pin 32 (wire K762-BU) to all of the other contacts that are used by the Implement ECM 2.Expected Result:Each resistance measurement is
