Assembly Procedure
Engine Mounted Oil Filter Base
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Note: Certain applications will be equipped with engine oil filters. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Engine Oil and Filter - Change.
Position adapter (10) and O-ring seal (9) on engine oil filter base (1) (if equipped).
Install cover (15) and O-ring seal (13) on engine oil filter base (1). Tighten cover (15) to a torque of 70 10 N m (52 7 lb ft) (if equipped).
Install O-ring seal (11) onto connector (14) (if equipped).
Install connector (14) on adapter (10) (if equipped).
Install elbow (17) and O-ring seal (16) on cover (15) (if equipped).
Install cover (12) and O-ring seal (8) on engine oil filter base (1) (if equipped).
Install relief plungers (2) and springs (3) on engine oil filter base (1).
Install plugs (5) and O-ring seals (4) on engine oil filter base (1).
Install plugs (6) and O-ring seals (7) on engine oil filter base (1).Remote Oil Filter Base

Install drive screw (32).
Install elbows (24) and O-ring seals (25).
Install covers (20) and gaskets (21) on engine oil filter bases (23).
Install engine oil filter bases (23) and gaskets (21) on oil filter adapter (26).
Install plug (28) and plug (29) on oil filter adapter (26).Note: If necessary, install the relief plunger, the spring, and the cover in both engine oil filter bases (23).
Install spring (30) and relief plunger (31).
Install cover (27).
Install sampling valve (19) and dust cap (18).
Install studs (33) on engine oil filter bases (23).
Install engine oil filters (22).End By:
Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Install".
