Illustration 1. Install bushings that do not need turning with the paint mark in the original position.1. Determine if the bushing needs to be turned to expose a new wear surface. If the bushing does not need to be turned, install the bushing with the paint mark in the original position. See Illustration 1.2. Always install the track pin with the crosshole towards the wear surface of the track links. The crosshole should be down as the track is assembled in the track press. See Illustration 2. This position puts minimum stress on the crosshole area.
Track pins installed in the track press with the crosshole in other positions will put stress on the crosshole area and can cause the track pin to break.

Turn the pin and bushing end for end and rotate the bushing 180°, as shown in Illustration 2.The wear groove on the bushing is set off-center from the middle of the bushing. This is caused by clearance between the pin and bushing, as shown in Illustration 3. Correct turning of the pin and bushing is necessary to allow the seal lip to track freely in the wear groove.
