Engine Coolant Temperature - Typical temperature range is 87 to 98°C (189 to 208°F). The maximum allowable programmable temperature is 104 °C (220 °F) for warning, 106 °C (222 °F) for derate mode, and 107 °C (224 °F) for shutdown mode. The reading of the coolant temperature may vary according to the load.
Tachometer - This gauge indicates engine speed (rpm).
System Voltage - This gauge indicates the level of voltage in the electrical system.
Ammeter - This gauge indicates the amount of current in the electrical system. Operation of the indicator should be to the positive side of "0"(zero). If the indicated amperage is on the minus side of the gauge, the charging circuit is not able to satisfy the electrical load in the electrical system, so the battery will discharge.
Fuel Pressure - This gauge indicates fuel pressure. The indicator should indicate the "NORMAL" range. Typical fuel pressure at low idle is 510 kPa (74 psi). Maximum fuel pressure is 586 kPa (85 psi) when the engine is at high idle.
Inlet Air Temperature - This gauge indicated inlet manifold air temperature. Maximum recommended inlet manifold air temperature at any condition is 79 °C (175 °F). At this temperature, the engine will go into derate mode when the parameter is selected. The ECM will go into warning mode if the inlet manifold temperature reaches 75 °C (167 °F) and the parameter is selected.
Service Hour Meter - This gauge indicates the total number of hours of crankshaft rotation. The ECM does not count the time when the main power key switch is in the ON position. A service tool or a display is needed in order to retrieve the service hours for the engine from the ECM. A Service Hour Meter may be installed on the engine.Indicators
Indicator lamps are used to warn the operator of potential problems or suggested service. The optional "Diagnostic" lamp will display specific active flash codes that communicate the status of the electronic control system for the engine. If the diagnostic lamp comes on, contact your Caterpillar dealer for assistance. The optional "Warning" lamp warns the operator of an abnormal diagnostic condition, or an event code. If the engine is going into derate mode the "Warning" lamp will flash.Note: The corrective action should be taken. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for assistance. The optional "Maintenance Due" lamp alerts the operator that regular engine maintenance is due. A "Maintenance Due" reset switch is required in order to turn off the lamp. This will also reset the counter.
