Personal injury or death can result from a brake malfunction. Do not operate the machine if the brake was applied due to a malfunction of the brake system.Correct any problem before attempting to operate the machine.
The brakes are located on each drum at the end of the propel motors. The brakes are accessible through the openings in the side plates. Use the following procedure to release the parking brake.Note: A special tool is bolted to the inside of the left engine access cover. The special tool is needed to release the parking brake manually. The special tool may not be supplied with the machine.Note: In order to prevent the machine from moving, block the drums in the front and the rear.
Make sure that the steering frame lock pin is in the Locked position.

Brake release tool location.
Retrieve the brake release tool from the front left of the machine.
Remove the rubber plug from the cover on the propel motor.

Insert bolt (1) with nut (2) through tool (3) . Install the assembled tool on the parking brake.
Screw bolt (1) into the hole that is in the cover for the parking brake.
Turn nut (2) against tool (3) until the nut is finger tight.
Tighten nut (2) against tool (3) in order to release the parking brake. Turning the nut pulls the parking brake piston against the spring washer which releases the parking brake. Note: Approximately one revolution of nut (2) is needed to release the parking brake.
When the towing is complete, loosen nut (2) until the parking brake is applied.
