5. Use tooling (C) to hold the tilt lever in position when the tilt cylinder pin is removed. Steps 6 and 7 are for the right tilt cylinder only. 6. Loosen two bolts (5). Tighten forcing screw (6) and then slide tube assembly (7) back until the outside collet on the tilt cylinder can be removed.7. Remove magnet (8) from the outside collet. 8. Remove bolt (9) from the collets and pin in the rod end of the tilt cylinder with tool (F). 9. Use tooling (A) and remove collets (10) for the tilt cylinder.10. Fasten a hoist to the tilt cylinder as shown. Use two persons and remove pin (11) from the rod end of the tilt cylinder and tilt lever. The weight of the pin is 23 kg (50 lb). Disconnect greased line from the tilt cylinder. 11. Pull the tilt cylinder back toward the cab. Fasten the tilt cylinder back so it can not fall. 12. Remove bolt (12) from the collets and pin for the tilt lever. 13. Remove two collets (13) with tooling (A) as shown. 14. Fasten a hoist to the tilt lever. Remove tool (C) from the end of the tilt lever. Fasten a hoist and use tooling (D) to remove the pin that holds the tilt lever to the loader frame. The weight of the pin is 52 kg (155 lb). 15. Remove tilt lever (14) from the loader frame. The weight of the tilt lever is 907 kg (2000 lb). Bearing (16) can be destroyed if it is removed. Do not remove the bearing unless a replacement is needed.16. Remove seals (15) from the tilt lever.
Typical Example17. Fasten a hoist to tool (E). Remove bearing (16) with tooling (E) from the tilt lever as shown. The 5P7371 Puller Adapter will have to be installed when the cylinder is at the end of the stroke.
Typical Example Weld four beads on the inside diameter of bearing (16) if necessary to remove the bearing from the tilt lever.Install Tilt Levers
1. Make sure the pin bore bearing surfaces are clean and free of dirt and foreign material. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Grease on the inside bearing surfaces. Make sure the bearing is in correct alignment with the bore when it is installed. 2. Lower the temperature of the bearing and install the bearing in the tilt lever with tooling (A). The 5P7371 Puller Adapters will have to be added when the cylinder is at the end of the stroke. Install the bearing until it is 9.7 0.5 mm (.38 .02 in) below the outside surface of the tilt lever. 3. Install two seals (1) in the tilt lever with a block of wood and a hammer. Install the seals even with the outside surface of the tilt lever. Make sure the lip of the seal is toward the outside of the tilt lever. 4. Fasten a hoist to tilt lever (2). Put the tilt lever in position in the loader frame. 5.
