Start By:a. remove cutter drive sheave & cutter drive shaft 1. Remove spiral snap ring (1) from drive shaft (2).2. Remove O-ring seal (3) from bearing cap (4). 3. Use a press and Tool (A) to push drive shaft (2) from bearings (5) and (7), spacer (6) and bearing cap (4).4. Remove the lip-type seal from bearing cap (4). The following steps are for assembly of the cutter drive shaft.5. Install the lip-type seal in bearing cap (4) with the seal lip toward the inside of the bearing cap. Put clean oil on the seal lip, and put bearing cap (4) in position on drive shaft (2).6. Heat bearing (7) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F). Install the bearing on drive shaft (2). Make sure the bearing is against (seated) the drive shaft shoulder.7. Position spacer (6) on bearing (7).
Do not drive or press bearing (5) far enough to force the bearing outer race against spacer (6), or the bearings may be damaged.
8. Heat bearing (5) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F). Install bearing (5) on drive shaft (2). Install spiral snap ring (1).9. Install O-ring seal (3) in bearing cap (4). Put clean oil on the O-ring seal.End By:a. install cutter drive sheave & cutter drive shaft
