1. Do this procedure whenever shaft bearing (1) or (7), shaft (10), head or body is replaced. Do not install the barrel assembly or pistons for this procedure.2. Install bearing cones on shaft (10) and bearing cups in body and head. Be sure that cups and cones are firmly seated against their locating shoulders.3. Install shaft in body.4. Install head and gasket on body. Tighten head bolts.5. Put a dial indicator in position to measure end play movement of shaft (10).6. Pull on shaft, turn back and forth about 40° to seat bearings.7. Zero the indicator, while turning the shaft.8.
