Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the pump drive coupling. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump Drive Coupling - Remove".
Remove the main drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Drive Shaft - Remove".
Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Drain the oil from the transmission and the torque converter. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission System Oil and Screens - Change/Clean".

Remove bolts (2). Remove adapter (1) and the gasket. Disconnect hose assembly (3) .

Remove cable strap (4) and position hose assembly (3) out of the way.
Remove bolts (7). Slide housing assembly (6) to the side in order to remove housing assembly (6) from power train oil pump (5) .
Remove hose assembly (8) .

Disconnect hose assembly (9) from the top of power train oil pump (5) .

Remove bolts (10) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to power train oil pump (5). The weight of power train oil pump (5) is approximately 79 kg (174 lb).
Remove bolts (11) and nuts (12) .
Lower power train oil pump (5) and remove power train oil pump (5) from the machine. Remove the O-ring seals from power train oil pump (5) .
