Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the flywheel housing adapter from the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel Housing Adapter - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal components.

Attach a suitable lifting sling around coupling (1). Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist.
Slowly remove coupling (1) from the engine. The weight of coupling (1) is 138 kg (305 lb).Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Verify that all of the components of the coupling are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
