Schematic of the "Inclinometer " SensorThe CID 0871 FMI 09 diagnostic code is recorded when the "Advisor" ECM cannot receive data from the sensor via the "CAN Data Link". The ECM expects to receive information from the "CAN Data Link" at a specific rate.Possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The supply voltage to the inclinometer is wrong.
The connecting machine harness has failed.
The sensor has failed or the sensor is not functioning correctly.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Test Step 1. CHECK THE INPUT VOLTAGE OF THE SENSOR.
Make sure that the machine is on level ground. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do NOT start the tractor.
Remove the floorplate.Note: Ensure that the tractor has cooled. Avoid contact with the manifold.
Disconnect the 4-pin connector for the sensor.
Measure the voltage on the connector across contact 1 (wire 133-OR) and contact 2 (wire 202-BK).Expected Result:The voltage that is measured is between 8 DCV and 14 DCV.Results:
YES - The voltage that is measured is between 8 DCV and 14 DCV. The sensor is receiving the correct voltage. The diagnostic code remains active. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - The voltage that is measured is less than 8 DCV. The sensor is NOT receiving the correct input voltage. There is a problem with the Charging System. There is a problem with the battery. There is an open or a shorted circuit between the battery and the sensor.Repair: Check the Battery. Check the charging system. See Troubleshooting, "Charging System". The battery is working correctly or the battery has been repaired. The charging system is working correctly or the charging system has been repaired. The CID 0871 FMI 09 diagnostic code remains active. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE MACHINE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN CONNECTION.
De-energize the system. Reconnect the 4-pin connector for the sensor. Disconnect the machine harness at the ECM. Disconnect the machine harness at the sensor.
Measure the resistance from contact 3 (wire F711-GN) to contact50 (wire F711-GN) on the Machine ECM. Measure the resistance from contact 4 (wire F712-GY) to contact 34 (wire F712-GY) on the machine ECM. Expected Result:The resistance that is measured is less than 5 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance that is measured is less than 5 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - The resistance that is measured is more than 5 ohms. The machine harness has failed.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. The open circuits in the machine harness have been repaired or the machine harness has been replaced. Reconnect the machine harness to the ECM and to the sensor. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do NOT start the tractor. The CID 0871 FMI 09 diagnostic code remains active. Proceed to Test Step 3. Test Step 3. CHECK THE MACHINE HARNESS FOR A GROUNDED CONNECTION.
De-energize the system. Disconnect the machine harness at the ECM. Disconnect the machine harness at the sensor.
Measure the resistance between contact 3 (wire F711-GN) and all other contacts that are
