Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the cover for the fuel injection nozzles. Refer to this Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Fuel Injection Nozzle Cover - Remove and Install".
Remove the fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Ensure that a cap (1) is installed onto the fuel injection nozzle in order to stop dirt from entering the fuel injection nozzle.
Remove the setscrew (3). Remove the clamp (2).

Remove the fuel injection nozzle (4) from the cylinder head.
Remove the O-ring seal (6) from the fuel injection nozzle (4) and discard the O-ring.
Remove the seat washer (5) and discard the seat washer. Note: If the original seat washer is not removed, the projection of the fuel injection nozzle will be incorrect when a new seat washer is installed.
