Schematic for the LP Parking Brake SwitchThis diagnostic code is associated with the LP Parking Brake Switch. The FMI 02 means that the LH Operator ECM determined that the signal is intermittent, erratic, or incorrect. The ECM could be receiving invalid combinations from the circuit.Note: The LH Operator ECM is located under the LH Operator Platform.Conditions that could cause this diagnostic code to be activated are:
There is an open or grounded wire between A314-OR and the LH Operator ECM.
There is an open wire or a grounded wire between 419-YL and the LH Operator ECM.
One or more of the parking brake switches have failed.
There is an open on wire A270-BK.
The LH Operator ECM has failed. This is unlikely. System Response:When this diagnostic code is active, the following occurs:
Machine immediately comes to a stop.
Propel is disabled.
The following pop-up message shows on graphical display: "Parking brake switch is faulted. Machine will not propel until fault has been fixed."
Alarm horn is active.
Operator station fault lamp is active.Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, secure and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Test Step 1. CHECK THE CONTINUITY OF THE SWITCH IN THE RELEASE POSITION
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Unplug the switch from the wire harness.
Place the switch in the RELEASE position.
With the switch in the RELEASE position, check the resistance from terminal 1 to terminal 2. Check the resistance from terminal 2 to terminal 3.Expected Result:The resistance should be less than 5 ohms on terminals 1 and 2. The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms on terminals 2 and 3.Results:
OK - The resistances are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The resistance is not less than 5 ohms from terminal 1 to terminal 2 or the resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms from terminal 2 to terminal 3.Repair: The switch has failed. Replace the switch.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE CONTINUITY OF THE SWITCH IN THE SET POSITION
Press and hold the switch in the SET position.
With the switch in the SET position, check the resistance from terminal 1 to terminal 2. Check the resistance from terminal 2 to terminal 3.Expected Result:The resistance should be less than 5 ohms from terminal 2 to terminal 3. The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms from terminal 1 to terminal 2.Results:
OK - The resistances are correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is not less than 5 ohms from terminal 2 to terminal 3 or the resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms from terminals 1 to terminal 2. Repair: The switch has failed. Replace the switch.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE HARNESS
The disconnect switch and the key start switch remain in the OFF position.
