START BY:a. remove wheels, bearings and seals 1. Loosen the slack adjuster.2. Remove brake shields (1) from the axle housing. 3. Hold the lower brake shoe up. Use tool (A) to remove springs (2). 4. Remove the lockwire and bolts (3).5. Remove spring (4), the retainer and washer from pin (5).6. Remove pin (5), and use two men to remove the bottom brake shoe. Weight is approximately 34 kg (75 lb.).7. Remove the spring, retainer, washer, pin and top brake shoe. Use two men to remove the brake shoe. Weight is approximately 34 kg (75 lb.).Install Brake Shoes
1. Use two men to put the top brake shoe in position on the axle housing.2. Install pin (1) through the brake shoe and bracket on the axle housing with the flat surface on the pin in alignment with hole (2) in the bracket. Install washer (4), retainer (3) and spring (5) on both ends of pin (1).3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the bottom brake shoe.4. Install the bolts in holes (2). Install the lockwire on the bolts. 5. Use tool (A) to install springs (6). 6. Install brake shields (7) on the axle housing.END BY:a. install wheels, bearings and seals
