Information:

1. Disconnect the tank line (1). 2. Remove the fitting (2) and add or remove shims as necessary. Adding shims increases the pressure setting. One 3U8811 shim will change the pressure by approximately 350kPa (50 p.s.i.). 3. Install the fitting (2) and tank line (1), then re-check the relief pressure.Relief Valve for Hoist System
To check the pressures at which the two stage relief valve opens:1. Connect a 0-28000 kPa (0-4000 p.s.i.) pressure gauge at the field test port. The same test port is used for measuring both steering and hoist relief pressures. 2. Start the engine and operate at 1000 r.p.m.
Frozen material in the corners of the dump body can loosen in the warm shop and slide out when the body is raised. This can cause personal injury or death. Make sure all personnel are clear before raising the body.
3. Select HOIST and fully raise the dump body. Keep the body control lever in the HOIST position until the relief valve opens. Check the reading on the pressure gauge. DO NOT turn the steering wheel. The relief valve setting in the HOIST position should be 16950-17550 kPa (2460-2540 p.s.i.) on a D550B OR 18600-18900 kPa (2660-2740 p.s.i.) on a D44B.4. Select DOWN and fully lower the dump body. Keep the body control lever in the DOWN position until the relief valve opens. Check the reading on the pressure gauge. DO NOT turn the steering wheel. The relief valve setting in the DOWN position should be 6200-7600 kPa (900-1100 p.s.i.) on both models. If either of the relief valve settings are wrong, adjustment will be necessary.Adjustment for Relief Valve.
1. Make sure that the body control lever is in the FLOAT position and shut down the engine.
An accumulation of oil on the machine or floor is a fire hazard and can cause someone to slip and fall. This can result in personal injury or death. Catch as much split oil as possible in a suitable container and wipe up spillage without delay.
2. Disconnect the pilot line (1) and use a 9S5518 plug (7/16 inch N.F.) to seal the pilot line. 3. Remove the end cap(2), slacken the jam nut(4) and screw the large diameter hollow adjusting screw(3) inwards until it just bottoms. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Tighten jam nut(4).

Keep the body control lever in the HOIST position and check the pressure gauge reading while running the engine at 1000r.p.m.5. Slacken jam nut(6) and turn the small diameter adjusting screw(5) until the gauge reading is either 17250 kPa (2500 p.s.i.) on a D550B OR 18750 kPa (2700p.s.i.) on a D44B then tighten the jam nut(6). One turn of the adjusting screw will change the pressure by approximately 3500kPa(500p.s.i.).6. Fully lower the dump body. Keep the body control lever in the DOWN position and check the pressure gauge reading while running the engine at 1000r.p.m.7. Slacken jam nut(4)
