Removal Procedure

Note: The photos have been taken from the top side of the main drive shaft. The drive shaft should be removed from the bottom.
Loosen the four bolts from front universal joint (3) of main drive shaft (1) .
Loosen the four bolts from rear universal joint (2) of main drive shaft (1) .
Secure suitable lifting strap (5) to main drive shaft (1). One person should be below the main drive shaft and one person should stand above the main drive shaft in order to lower the main drive shaft.
Remove four bolts (3) from the front universal joint and four bolts (2) from the rear universal joint.Note: You may need to pry the main drive shaft from yoke (4) and from yoke (6) .
Remove the main drive shaft. The weight of the main drive shaft is 13 kg (29 lb).Installation Procedure

Use appropriate lifting strap (5) in order to position main drive shaft (1) .

Install four bolts (3) to front universal joint (4) of main drive shaft (1) in order to connect to the torque converter. Torque bolts (3) to 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).
Install four bolts (2) to rear universal joint (6) of main drive shaft (1) in order to connect to the transmission. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).
