Introduction
This Technical Information Bulletin provides additional information for the jacket water heaters, space heaters, and battery chargers that are used on the packages that are listed above.Problem
The contactors that are used for the jacket water heater, the space heater, and the battery charger are failing at very early hours.The contactors may be wired incorrectly. The incorrect wiring is due to the complexity of the product. Also, incomplete instructions that are provided for the wiring can lead to incorrect wiring. The contactor may have been ordered incorrectly because of the code that is used. The 240V L-L uses the "CNTHTR1" code. The 240V L-N uses the "CNTHTR2" code. The ordering system, that is also known as the "PSQ" or the "EOMP", had compatibility rule errors that allowed the selection of incompatible options when either the "CNTHTR1" or the "CNTHTR2" were selected.Solution
Now, the ordering system, that is also known as the "PSQ" or the "EOMP", only allows the selection of compatible options when either the "CNTHTR1" or the "CNTHTR2" are selected. Also, the price lists for the C15 and the C18 have updated text in order to describe the correct selection of the "CNTHTR1" or the "CNTHTR2". Verify the proper application of voltage before connecting the supply to the input power terminals of the control panel upon the commissioning procedure. First, check the voltage of the contactor. The voltage is stated on the contactor. Verify that the voltage that supplies power to the accessories of the genset matches the relay. Replace the contactor with the correct part number if the voltage does not match the relay. Refer to Table 1 for the correct part numbers.
