Components of the output transfer gears
(1) Transfer gear
(2) Shim pack
(3) Transfer gear
(4) Gear
(5) Yoke
(6) Transfer shaft
(7) Yoke The output transfer gears are at the output side of the transmission. The output planetary carrier of the transmission is connected to transfer gear (1) by splines.Transfer gear (1) is engaged with transfer gear (3). Transfer gear (3) is engaged with gear (4). Gear (4) is connected to transfer shaft (6) by splines. Yoke (5) and yoke (7) are connected to transfer shaft (6) by splines. Yoke (5) is connected to the rear drive shaft. The rear drive shaft is connected to the rear differential. Yoke (7) is connected to the center drive shaft. The center drive shaft is connected to the front drive shaft. The front drive shaft is connected to the front differential.The flow of power in the output transfer gears goes from the output planetary carrier of the transmission to transfer gear (1). The power then flows from transfer gear (1) to transfer gear (3). The power then flows from the transfer gear (3) to gear (4). The power then flows from the gear (4) to transfer shaft (6).At transfer shaft (6), the flow of power divides. Some of the power goes from yoke (5) through the rear drive shaft to the rear differential. Some of the power goes from yoke (7) through the center drive shaft to the front drive shaft. From the front drive shaft power goes to the front differential.Shim pack (2) is used to adjust the end play (bearing preload) of transfer gear (1).Output Transfer Gear Lubrication
Oil enters the output transfer gear case through a passage between the output planetary carrier of the transmission and the transmission output shaft. The output transfer gear case is also an oil reservoir for the transmission circuit. All return oil drains to the bottom of the output transfer gear case. The movement of the output transfer gears in the oil, causes oil to be thrown on all the components.
