The control valve controls the flow of oil from the fan pump (pilot pump) to the following systems:
Pilot valve
Fan motorThe pump oil is diverted, based on the pressure requirements of the systems. The control valve receives oil from the fan pump. Oil in the control valve flows to restrictor valve (2). Restrictor valve (2) maintains a minimum pressure. This minimum pressure is supplied to the pilot valve.Oil from restrictor valve (2) flows to the drive motor group for the fan (6). Accumulator (4) for the fan motor provides stability for the air-to-air aftercooler and the pilot circuit. The drive motor group for the fan (6) contains a check valve (5). Check valve (5) prevents cavitation of the fan motor. When the engine speed decreases quickly, the check valve allows oil from the outlet passage of the fan motor to flow into the inlet passage of the fan motor.Oil from fan drive motor (6) then flows to hydraulic oil cooler (8) or oil flows to temperature control valve (9). When the oil temperature in hydraulic tank (10) is less than 61 °C (140 °F), temperature control valve (9) opens and oil flows to hydraulic tank (10). When the oil temperature in hydraulic tank (9) is greater than 61 °C (140 °F), temperature control valve (9) is closed and oil flows to hydraulic oil cooler (8). Oil from hydraulic oil cooler (8) then flows to hydraulic tank (10). The temperature control valve prevents damage to the hydraulic oil cooler.Relief valve (3) receives oil from restrictor valve (2). Relief valve (3) controls the maximum pressure in the pilot valve and the fan drive motor. When pressure in the pilot valve and the fan drive motor exceeds the pressure setting of the relief valve, the relief valve opens. Oil from relief valve (3) flows to hydraulic oil cooler (8) or to temperature control valve (9). Oil from hydraulic oil cooler (8) or temperature control valve (9) flows to hydraulic tank (10) .
