Assembly Procedure

(1) O-ring seals (2) Backup rings (3) Backup rings (4) Piston (5) Fill valve (6) Relief valve (7) Stopper plate assembly (8) Cylinder (9) Seal
Make sure that all of the parts of the hydraulic track adjuster are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly. Replace O-ring seals (1) and backup rings (2) and (3) .
Completely fill the seal grooves for piston (4) with 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease. This will allow grease to flow out of the grooves, when the seals are installed.Note: Install backup rings (2) and (3) and O-ring seals (1) on piston (4), as shown. Backup rings (2) and (3) can be identified by color. Backup ring (2) is brown. Backup ring (3) is black. Do not interchange the position of the backup rings and the O-rings. When piston (4) is installed in cylinder (8), make sure that the piston is kept square with the cylinder in order to prevent possible damage to the backup rings and the O-ring seals.
Install O-ring seals (1) and backup rings (2) and (3) on piston (4), as shown.
Install relief valve (6) and fill valve (5) in the cylinder. Tighten the relief valve (6). Do not tighten fill valve (5) .
Apply a small amount of 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on the sliding surface of piston (4) and a minimum of 60 cc (3.7 in3) of grease to the flat end of the piston. This will prevent air from getting in the cylinder during installation of the piston.
Make sure that the grease covers backup rings (2) and (3) and O-ring seals (1) .
Also, put grease to the inside diameter of cylinder (8) .
Fill the flat bottom of cylinder (8) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease. Do not fill the passage for the relief valve and the passage for the fill valve with grease.
Make sure that backup rings (2) and (3) and O-ring seals (1) are in the grooves of piston (4) .
Center piston (4) in cylinder (8). It may be necessary to use a soft hammer to install the piston in the cylinder.
Make sure that the grease is expelled from the vent hole of fill valve (5). Tighten fill valve (5) to a torque of 34 5 N m (25 4 lb ft).
Add approximately 5 cc (0.3 in3) of 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease through fill valve (5) .
Apply a force to piston (4) and open relief valve (6) in order to purge all the air. Tighten relief valve (6) to a torque of 34 5 N m (25 4 lb ft).
Apply a small amount of 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease in the groove for lip seal (9) at the end of the cylinder.
Install lip seal (9) even with the outside surface of the cylinder. Do not install the seal more than 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) below the outside surface of the cylinder.
Add 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease through fill valve (5) until the outside diameter of the piston contact the lip seal.
Make sure that the lip seal and the piston have total
