Remove Fuel Injection Pump Housing And Governor (Later Sleeve Metering Fuel System)
start by: a) remove starting motor 1. Remove the cotter pin and the pin that hold rod (1) to the lever. Disconnect rod. Turn the valve for fuel supply to "OFF" position.2. Disconnect fuel injection lines (3). Disconnect fuel filter lines (8). Remove fuel filter (10). Disconnect lines (6).3. Remove tube (4). Remove the nuts that hold cover (9) to the timing gear cover. Remove the bolt that holds the timing gear to the fuel transfer pump inside the timing gear cover. 4. Install tooling (A) on timing gear and pull gear from shaft.5. Remove timing pin (5) from the governor housing. Remove bolt (2) from the cover. 6. Put tooling (C) in position in the flywheel housing and in engagement with the flywheel. Remove the plug from the flywheel housing. Put No. 1 piston at the top center compression position with the following procedure: a) Turn the crankshaft clockwise (as seen from the front of the engine) until tool (B) can be installed through the timing hole in the flywheel housing and into the hole in the flywheel. Never turn the crankshaft backward to install the bolt in the flywheel.b) Disconnect the breather from the valve cover. The rocker arms can be seen through the breather hole for the No. 1 piston.c) Check to see if both rocker arms for the No. 1 piston can be moved backward and forward by hand through the breather hole. The No. 1 piston is at the top center compression position when the bolt is installed in the flywheel and both rocker arms for No. 1 piston can be moved backward and forward.d) If both rocker arms can not be moved, the No. 1 piston is not at the top center compression position. Remove the bolt from the flywheel. Turn the crankshaft clockwise (as seen from the front of the engine) one full turn (360°) and install the bolt again.7. Install timing pin (5) in the groove (slot) in the fuel injection pump camshaft. Fasten a hoist to the fuel injection pump housing. 8. Remove the three nuts and washers that hold the fuel injection pump housing to the studs in the timing gear plate. Remove the bolts that hold bracket (7) to the fuel injection pump housing and governor (11). Weight of the pump and governor is 30 lb. (13.6 kg).Install Fuel Injection Pump Housing And Governor (Later Sleeve Metering Fuel System)
1. Put fuel injection pump housing and governor (1) in position on the engine and against the timing gear plate.2. Install the three nuts and washers that hold the fuel injection pump housing to the timing gear plate.3. Install the bolt that holds the timing gear to the fuel transfer pump. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 110 5 lb.ft. (149.1 6.8 N m). Put cover (11) in position on the timing gear cover. Install the nuts that hold it.4. Connect tube (3). Connect line
