Measure the movement (2) of the slack adjuster at the pin when the brakes are applied. If the movement is 64 mm (2.5 inch) or more, adjust the brakes.
To adjust the brakes, loosen lock bolt (4). Turn adjusting shaft (3) in the direction that causes shaft (1) to turn as if the brakes are being applied. Adjust shaft (1) in order to limit movement (2) to 41 mm (1.6 inch). Tighten lock bolt (4) .
