1. Disconnect batteries.2. Disconnect wiring (3) from the alternator.3. Loosen nuts (2) until the tension is removed from V-belts.4. Remove guard (1). Remove the belts from the alternator pulley. 5. Remove bolts (4) and (6). Remove alternator (5).6. Install the alternator in the reverse order of removal.7. Adjust nuts (2) until the proper V-belt tension is obtained. Use a belt tension gauge such as a Borroughs Tool Company, Part No. BT-33-95, or equivalent, to check the belt tension. The correct gauge reading is 535 22 N (120 5 lb.) for a new belt, or 400 44 N (90 10 lb.) for a used belt.
