Separate the torque converter and the transmission. Disassembly and Assembly, " Transmission and Torque Converter - Seperate".
Remove the lockup clutch and solenoid valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lockup Clutch and Solenoid Valve - Remove and Install" for the removal procedures.
Remove the transmission output sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Speed Sensor (Transmission) - Remove and Install" for the removal procedures.
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to plate (1). Remove bolts (4) and (3). Remove plate (1) and No. 1 rotating clutch (2) as a unit. The weight of No. 1 rotating clutch (2) and plate (1) is approximately 31 kg (70 lb).

Remove retaining ring (5) and separate plate (1) .

Use Tooling (B) to remove retaining ring (6). Remove bearing (7) .

Use Tooling (C) and a suitable press to depress retainer
