(7) Drive gear Steering pump (3) is a fixed displacement pump that supplies oil to the steering control valve. Pilot and braking pump (6) is a fixed displacement pump that supplies oil to the parking brake circuit, the service brake circuit, the implement pilot circuit and the steering pilot circuit.

(A) Outlet ports
(B) Inlet port Drive shaft (1) turns drive gear (5) and drive gear (7), which forces idler gear (2) and idler gear (4) to turn. A seal is formed by the gears against the pump housing. As the gears turn, oil enters through inlet port (B). The oil is trapped between the gear teeth and the pump housing. The oil is pulled around the outside of the gears. The oil is then forced out of port (A).
