1.1 Liter Family Of EnginesDescription of Change: New control assemblies are used in the fuel injection control groups. The new assemblies provide close clearance shaft bearings and are installed differently than the former control assemblies. Formerly, all the bearing supports were factory set. The center supports of the new assemblies are tightened after the assemblies are installed on the engine. Adaptable To: The new 4P-9047 or 102-7459 Control Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 7C-1516 Control Assembly in the 7W-6989 Fuel Injection Control Group on 3116 engines. Also, the new 4P-9048 Control Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 7C-1514 Control Rack Assembly in the 7W-8600 Fuel Injection Control Group on 3114 engines. Use the following procedure for assembly on the 7W-6989 Fuel Injection Control Group (3116 Engines):

Tighten bolts (2) for outer bearing brackets A and D to a torque of 12 3 N m (9 2 lb ft).3. Tighten the bolts (2) for inner bearing brackets B and C to a torque of 12 3 N m (9 2 lb ft).4. Position the inner bearings B and C to allow free rotation of the rack control rod.5. Tighten two screws (1) on inner bearing brackets B and C to 3.5 0.2 N m (2.57 .15 lb ft).6. Control rod must rotate when force of 4.4 N (1 lb) or less is applied to control lever (3) in direction indicated by arrows.Use the following procedure for assembly on the 7W-8600 Fuel Injection Control Group (3114 Engines):
