Rotate ring gear (3) in one direction only during the setting of the tapered roller bearings. Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of shaft nut (2). Torque the shaft nut to 7500 N m (5500 lb ft).At assembly, O-rings (5) of floating seal and all surfaces in contact with the O-rings must be clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of oil on the contacting surfaces of the metal seals before installation.Apply 4C-9506 Retaining Compound on thrust washer (7) and on carrier (6) prior to assembly.
