Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant System Coolant - Change".

Loosen hose clamps (10) and remove hose (11) from the exhaust elbow.
Loosen hose clamps (1). Slide hose (2) onto exhaust elbow (4).
Loosen bolts (8). Remove exhaust elbow (3) and the gasket from turbocharger (7).
Loosen bolts (5). Remove exhaust elbow (4) and the gasket from turbocharger (6).
If necessary, remove pipe plug (9) from exhaust elbow (3). Remove pipe plug (12) from exhaust elbow (4). Installation Procedure

Position exhaust elbow (4) and the gasket on turbocharger (6). Install bolts (5). Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
Position exhaust elbow (3) and the gasket on turbocharger (7). Install bolts (8). Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
Align the exhaust elbows and slide hose (2) in position. Tighten hose clamps (1).
Tighten bolts (8).
Tighten bolts (5).
Install hose (11) on the exhaust elbow. Tighten hose clamps (10).
Apply Tooling (A) to pipe plug (9) and pipe plug (12). Install the pipe plugs.
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant System Coolant - Change".
