The brakes are released by pressure oil from the brake control valve. The operator controls the brake control valve through a foot pedal in the operator's compartment.During movement of the machine, pressure oil is sent through a passage in housing (1) to chamber (3). The pressure holds the service brake in the released position. This allows the outer axle shafts to turn.When the brake pedal is depressed, pressure oil in chamber (3) is released and the chamber is opened to the drain. The release of the pressure allows belleville springs (2) to push piston (7) against the disc and plates (6) .The friction between the disc and plates (6) stops the rotation of hub (5) and the outer axle shaft. The machine comes to a stop.
