Table 3 lists the diagnostic codes that apply to the TCM. MID No. 094 is used to identify the TCM. Use Cat ET to determine the diagnostic codes that are active or logged. Then refer to the appropriate troubleshooting procedure for more information.Note: Use Cat ET to clear diagnostic codes. Keyswitch power to the engine must be cycled to complete clearing of the codes from the TCM.

628-2 Program Memory : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect During a self-test, the TCM has detected an internal memory fault. Replace the TCM.
630-2 Calibration Memory : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect During a self-test, the TCM has detected a problem writing calibration data to memory. The TCM will continue to operate using calibration data that was stored previously. Replace the TCM during the next service interval.
2901-0 ECU Part Number : High - most severe (3) The internal temperature of the TCM has exceeded the operational range of the unit. The three-way valve is commanded to the fault position. If necessary, install heat shields or relocate the TCM.
2901-3 ECU Part Number : Voltage Above Normal The TCM has detected an electrical problem with the internal temperature sensor for the unit. The three-way valve is commanded to the fault position. Replace the TCM.
2901-4 ECU Part Number : Voltage Below Normal The TCM has detected an electrical problem with the internal temperature sensor for the unit. The TCM will continue to operate normally. Replace the TCM during the next service interval.

An active diagnostic code represents a problem with the electronic control system. Correct the problem as soon as possible.When the engine ECM generates an active diagnostic code, the "Active Alarm" indicator ("Engine Control Alarm Status" on Cat ET) is activated. The indicator is used to alert the operator of the active code. If the condition that generated the code is momentary, the message disappears from the list of active diagnostic codes. The diagnostic code becomes logged.Refer to Illustration 1 for an example of the operating ranges of a sensor.
