3508B (2BM, 3DM, 7SM),
3512B (7HM, 8EM, 4TN),
3516B (8CN, 8KN, 9AN) Marine EnginesDescription of Change: New exhaust shield groups include soft warp insulation instead of the hot box shielding used in the former exhaust shield groups. The soft wrap insulation will reduce the time required to remove and install the exhaust shield groups. New turbocharger oil lines groups are used on the 3512B and 3516B Marine Engines. The new oil lines groups provide a flange that is necessary for a mounting location for drip shields that are used in conjunction with the turbocharger soft wrap insulation. When installing the new exhaust shield groups on engines equipped with the former hot box shielding, only a flange is required.
A new longer bolt and spacer replace a former bolt in the turbocharger oil lines group on 3508B Marine Engines. The new bolt and spacer facilitate the installation of the new turbocharger soft wrap insulation.
Adaptable To: Chart A identifies the new and former exhaust shield groups for the various engine arrangements and the effectivity of the new exhaust shield groups. The 112-5010 Turbocharger Oil Lines Group is still used on the 3508B Marine Engines. But two former 8S-9191 Bolts have been replaced with two new 1A-5964 Bolts and two new 7W-6333 Spacers (see Illustration 1). The new bolts and spacers are required when installing the new soft wrap insulation on earlier engines.
For 3512B and 3516B Marine Engines, the former 7E-1463 Turbocharger Oil Lines Group has been replaced by the new 141-6751 Turbocharger Oil Lines Group. These groups are not available for parts service at the group level. When installing the new soft wrap insulation on earlier engines only two new 140-9606 Flanges are required to replace the former 9Y-1049 Flanges in the former turbocharger oil lines groups (see Illustration 2).
