3. Be sure the 1A3284 Dowel is in place. If the studs were loose or broken, it is possible that 9S3263 Thread Lock Compound will be needed on the dowel to give a tight fit. If the dowel or the holes for the dowel are damaged, install a step dowel.4. Grind any burrs from the transmission and the bevel gear case machined surfaces that make contact with each other. These surfaces must be kept dry and free of paint.5. To install the transmission on the bevel gear case, use 4K367 Nuts and 2S736 Washers. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 200 lb ft (270 N m) in the sequence shown in Illustrations 1 or 2.Because of the small clearances, it is necessary to use the 2P2253 Box Wrench, the 2P2257 Tubular Arm Extension, and the 2P2258 Square Drive Adapter with a 3/4" drive torque wrench to tighten most of the nuts.
