2. Install spacer (1) between the oil pan and cylinder block on each side. 3. Remove the bolts from the front support. Remove support (3) from timing gear cover.4. Remove drain line (2) for fuel filter housing.5. Remove bracket (4) for alternator.6. Remove all the bolts and nuts from the timing gear cover.7. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolts in the timing gear cover. Fasten a hoist and remove cover. Weight of cover is 170 lb. (77 kg).Install Front Timing Gear Cover
1. Install a new gasket for the timing gear cover. Cut the gasket even with the pan face of the cylinder block. If the oil pan gasket was damaged during removal of the timing gear cover, remove the pan and install a new gasket.2. Put SAE 30 engine oil on the front seal. Fasten a hoist and put the timing gear cover in position on the engine. Install the bolts and nuts that hold it in place.3. Install alternator bracket and fuel drain line.4. Remove spacers from between the oil pan and block.5. Tighten all the oil pan bolts and install bolts that hold the timing gear cover.6.
