Solution:
Inspect new track seal load rings before installing for defects or surface variations. The examples below offer general guidelines showing what degree of surface variation is considered a defect that may lead to premature seal failure.1. Evidence of tearing or missing material along the "heel" of the seal (the edge corresponding to the link counterbore corner) may indicate a defective seal. Do not use load rings with any evidence of tearing or missing material along this area. See Illustrations 1 and 2 for examples of defective load rings.

Illustration 2.2. Evidence of tearing or missing material in locations other than the "heel" are acceptable. Load rings with areas less than 5mm x 8mm (.20 inch x .32 inch) of material missing other than at the "heel" area are not defective and can be used. See Illustrations 3 and 4 for examples of a load ring with acceptable surface variation.
Illustration 3.The load ring shown above is not defective. Note that surface variations are small, away from the "heel".
