Sudden movement of the machine or release of air or oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible personal injury, do the procedure which follows before servicing the air system or brakes.
1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from working machines and personnel.2. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all personnel either away from the machine or in view of the operator.3. Activate the secondary brake and parking brake. Lower the bucket to the ground. Put wood blocks in front of and behind the wheels. Stop the engine.4. Continuously push on the brake pedal until there is no more brake air pressure. When the pressure has been removed from the air circuit, there will be no pressure in the hydraulic circuit.5. Be sure all air pressure is released before any fitting, hose or component is loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted. Before any operational checks are made, open the drain valve to release any water in the air reservoir. Water lowers the capacity in the reservoir and can cause the air compressor to run constantly. Close the drain valve.6. Remove the fender assembly from the right side of the machine. See the topic "Remove & Install Fender Assemblies" in this module. 7. Disconnect hose assembly (1). 8. Disconnect two wires (2) and two hose assemblies (3).9. Remove three bolts (4) and the washers that hold air/hydraulic cylinder (5) in position. Remove the air/hydraulic cylinder.10. Do Steps 7 through 9 to remove the other air/hydraulic cylinder. The following steps are for the installation of the air/hydraulic cylinder.11. Check the condition of all O-ring seals used in the installation of the air/hydraulic cylinder. If any of the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.12. Put air/hydraulic cylinder (5) in position in the machine. Install three bolts (4) and the washers that hold it.13. Connect two hose assemblies (3) and two wires (2) to the air/hydraulic cylinder in their original locations.14. Reconnect hose assembly (1).15. Do Steps 12 through 14 to install the other air/hydraulic cylinder.16. Remove (bleed) the air from the brake system. Start By:a. remove air/hydraulic cylinder group Put an alignment mark on the adapter, tube and air cylinder for assembly purposes. 1. Use tool (A) to remove adapter (1) from tube (2).2. Remove tube (2) from air cylinder (3) with tool (A). 3. Remove O-ring seals (4) from the tube. 4. Remove nuts (5) that hold the head and piston assembly in place. 5. Remove head and piston (6) from the cylinder. 6. Compress spring (7), and remove snap ring (11) with tool (B).7. Remove piston (8) and retainer valve (9) from the shaft.8. Remove lip-type
